Open Olympics Initiative grew out of independent research into how LA28 and the City of Los Angeles respond to community concerns during Olympic planning, including a review of constituent feedback.
Maximus Lee
Maximus Lee is a Los Angeles student, researcher, and community organizer interested in how residents can play a more meaningful role in the decisions shaping their communities. His work has focused on civic engagement, public policy, and community-based research across Los Angeles.
Through the Los Angeles Service Academy, Maximus developed an interest in the institutions and systems that shape the city. He later received the Francine Werner Summer Research Prize, supporting his independent research into how LA28 and the City of Los Angeles are addressing community concerns during the Olympic planning process. As part of this research, he examined constituent feedback and developed this resource to make Olympic planning more accessible to Angelenos.
His broader work reflects the same commitment to community participation. As a founder of Joy Market, he has organized efforts addressing food insecurity and food waste. He has also researched wildfire policy through the USC Dornsife High School Summer Internship Program and explored community issues through speech and debate.
Maximus created this website with a simple belief: residents should have a meaningful role in shaping the future of the communities they call home.
